Writers Participate in ACW’s Tell Me a Story Art Exhibit

When artists and writers collaborate everybody wins! The Room to Write was invited by the Arts Collaborative of Wakefield to participate in their “Tell Me a Story” Art Exhibit & Sale during the month of April at the Albion Cultural Exchange located at 9 Albion Street, Wakefield. TRtW is participating in the art exhibit in three ways with one bonus event! Hopefully you will find time to stop by during one of the special events listed below or ACW’s event exhibit hours on Fridays: April 5, 12, 19 & 26 from 5pm to 8pm and Saturdays: April 6, 13 & 20 from 11am to 2pm.

Writers and artists collaborated for a feature exhibit which highlights thirteen newly created

pieces of art by local artists. Each piece served as inspiration for local writers who wrote a poem

or short prose piece to pair with the art. This is the first exhibit of its kind for TRtW and ACW

and it was a lot of fun for the artists and writers involved. Stop in to see the results!

A second writer-centric feature is a table with books written by local authors of various genres

randomly selected to shine a light on what is only a fraction of the authors who live in and

around Wakefield. Several of the books will be raffled off as door prizes during the closing

reception of the art exhibit held on Friday, April 26 5pm to 8pm. Be sure to join us.

TRtW is also sponsoring a picture book author series titled Family-Friendly Storytime Art Hours

which enables children along with their parents, grandparents and caregivers to have an

opportunity to view the art. Children will enjoy a story read by a local author, with two authors

each hour. Books being read will be raffled off for free as a door prize to those who attend. This

program is a family-friendly opportunity to see the art exhibit during the day and without the
